BIO
DJ
Prototype, whose real name is Luke Kokot, has been listening to
electronic music since the early nineties. Growing up in Poland, he
was disappointed with the mainstream music and instead preferred the
hardcore sound coming out of Holland and Germany. At the age of 13
he left Eastern Europe to move to the states. He spoke no English,
so to escape from the language barrier he would escape into the
Rotterdam hardcore sound. On New Year’s Eve 1999, he attended his
first rave while still a sophomore in high school. He immediately
fell in love with the scene and the music. Over the next few years,
he would attend countless parties all over New England and the
Tri-state area. In late 2000, his good friend who introduced him to
the scene was starting to spin parties and Luke got his first
opportunity to spin vinyl. He instantly fell in love with dj'ing,
spinning vinyl whenever possible. It was around this time that
the jungle/d'n'b sound playing in every second room across the
northeast scene started to captivate him. He fell headfirst into the
drum and bass sound and started buying records. He used all his
money from a part time job that he had to save up for his first set
of tech 12's. He was a true bedroom dj honing his skills everyday,
until the summer of 2003 when he spun his first event in Shelton,
CT. Since then, he has spun countless house parties all over CT. He
is always spinning banging upfront tracks, mixed with older dnb
anthems. His unique style of long mixes and powerful tech-step
beats is always sure to please. Watch out for this DJ in the coming
years as he is truly on the rise.
